Hi, I’m Tierney Shaible.

I am a PhD student in the Biological Sciences department at Wayne State University, in the division of Evolutionary and Organismal Biology with a concentration in Ecology and a dual title in Urban Sustainability.

I completed my BSc in Biological Sciences in 2018 at the University of Pittsburgh. During my undergraduate career I worked on research examining microbe – pollinator interactions using the model species Bombus impatiens, the common Eastern Bumblebee.

I then completed my MSc in Entomology at the University of Arizona. Here, I focused on the cactus loving fruit fly, Drosophila mojavensis. I examined the physiological and life history traits that allow this fly to survive the intensely hot summer in the Sonoran Desert.

As a PhD student and T-RUST NSF fellow, I study the ecology of arthropods in the urban environment. I hope to examine community dynamics and their perturbations due to anthropogenic change through my research.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time outdoors with my partner and dogs.

Welcome to my personal site, where I share my ongoing research, work, and academic stuff
